Main attractions: Colourful pillars, marble statues, and huge sprawling courtyards.

Why go: Stories of the marriage of Shiva and Parvati, traditional aartis performed by the priests, evening view of Deepotsav.

Tip: Photography is limited inside the temple, so enjoy the outer courtyard.

2. Ooty (Udhagamandalam)
